Food memories, identity, and belonging
On 5 June 2024, as part of the inaugural Asian Heritage Week in Melbourne, we hosted a Peace Kitchen dialogue on how cherished food memories shape our sense of identity and belonging.
Drawing on our founder, Dr Elaine Pratley's, PhD research on food and peacebuilding, we helped participants dig deep to explore their different experiences of identity, the ways they practised their cultural heritages in multicultural Australia, and how they negotiate feelings of cultural imposter syndrome.
Not only did we get to connect on deep and meaningful levels, we also supported our social impact parter Meals with Impact with $1000 from ticket sales.

Finding Hope Amidst a World of Conflict
How can we be a beacon of light and hope in a world where intolerance and violence are rampant? That was the focus of our Peace Kitchen dialogues (and the focus of Dr Pratley's talks) over the last year.

Sharing a Message of Peace
From Australia to Malaysia, Hawaii, and beyond, Peace Kitchen has been hitting the global stage sharing our message of peace through food!

Nourishing Joy and Empathetic Dialogue Through Food
Peace Kitchen was invited to run a gustatory dialogue at Women Deliver 2026, one of the world’s largest global gatherings for gender equality and social justice advocates, bringing together 6,500+ attendees from over 170 countries. Read more about our session here.
During our session, we didn’t just talk about connection but helped people taste it. Leveraging food rituals, we transformed nourishment into participatory acts of transformation.
