Peace Kitchen @ School
Students form strong views about fairness, identity, and difference, influenced by peers, families, and online spaces. Schools need safe, practical ways to support these conversations.
As part of our community outreach work, Peace Kitchebn offers play-based, hands-on workshops that help schools and students build belonging, navigate difference, and strengthen classroom relationships.
-
Breaking Bread: students share culturally diverse food and explore identity through guided storytelling to build connection and understanding.
-
Building Belonging Across Cultures: Students explore culture and belonging through play and cooperative games, developing greater confidence in speaking and engaging peers from different backgrounds. Difference is positioned as a learning resource in everyday interactions.
-
Australian Youth Peacebuilders Programme: Through interactive activities and experiential learning, the students learn how to navigate conflict and adapt to change with confidence and care.
These sessions support whole-school wellbeing and inclusion priorities in line with Victorian school priorities (FISO 2.0). They are aligned with the Victorian Curriculum: Personal & Social Capability; Intercultural Capability.
We can also support Teacher Professional Development, providing strategies to better understand conflict and cultural dynamics

Our Approach
-
Uses food, play, and dialogue to explore difference in a safe and engaging way.
-
Creates inclusive entry points for all students, including quieter voices and non-native English speakers.
-
Builds a shared language of culture, identity, and belonging that extends beyond the session.
